Steven Varfee
As a young Liberian, growing up for me was a huge challenge, with my
mother as a single parent, deprived education by her African parents,
who didn’t believe in the girl child’s education. Her prayers and
encouragement motivated me highly to go for nothing less in life, so
God first, but my character pay my school fees over the years, so it
pays to be morally discipline.
Today I have “AA†in computer science, and one diploma in Social Work
with emphasis in peace building & gender development, along with
several certificates in Life skills and others without any parental
financial support. Prior to my secondary education I was privileged to
study Pastoral and Discipleship ministry at the Monrovia Bible
Training Center (MBTC) with the aid of my senior pastor. Currently, I
am a senior Student at the University of Liberia, reading Sociology
and Public Administration.
Working with women inspired me a lot, because I feel that I am giving
back to my mom and hope to go beyond the borders of my country one day
to help less fortunate women like my mom achieved their dreams. My
desire to joined the Youth Crime Watch of Liberia come after seeing
the positive impact of their programs in the life the Youth our
country after the war, and quest to contribute and support Crime free
Liberia.
