Sarah Vesselee is one of many young success stories from our Street Library program. Sarah, a 12 year old in the 5th grade, first started attending the Street
Library in August of 2015. She quickly fell in love with the atmosphere, the teaching, and the many books and games, and today she attends the program 3 days every week, when she finds time between school and selling oil at a local market. “I learned to read and color,” Sarah says, “and now I’m passing my tests and and quizzes in school”. Sarah is seen in the photo here beside the Street Library bookshelf, proudly holding up her favourite Liberian book, “Here We Go”. Listening to Sarah read the book flawlessly, it’s hard to believe her when she says she couldn’t read it when she first joined the library just 3 months ago.
